Hi everyone ☺️!

You know what time it is!!!

Juu’s wicked adventure!!!

So a few weeks ago I spent a lovely day at the Burnaby Village Museum! It’s extremely big so for today I will just write about the historical tram from Vancouver the #1223 tram. But don’t worry I promise to write again about this meusum in the future ~

And oh man, I found it soooooo interesting!

This tram car was in working service from 1913-1958 for the the Lower Mainland. And was donated to the Burnaby Village Museum sometime after 1960.The tram was originally in ruff shape as it was Vandalized before it’s arrival to the museum, and so In 2001, the tram was begone to undergo a 5 year restoration project! The amazing work was done by a group of dedicated volunteers.

The tram car is kept in the tram barn on the far eat side of the village.

When I first saw the tram I was stunned by how beautiful it is and the incredible craftsmanship of the car.

Stepping into the tram,

the first compartment was a small one and at its time of uses was only for men and for smoking smoking.

This Compartment was also equipped with leather straps for holding on to, shelves above to put your bag on, and match strike plates in brass all along the walls for men to use for smoking.

The next compartment is larger and ment for all. An interesting thing about this tram is that the seats are reversible since the tram ran on a track and would go back and forth. The seats also had a foot rest.

After exploring the inside of the car, I took sometime to read the stories in the barn about the trams that once ran.

I learned that the trams could take you all the way to Chilliwack and Richmond!

And that that there was a terrible accident that happened in 1909, that killed 15 and ultimately led to more rules and regulations for safety, such as The Tramways Inspection Act was passed by the B.C. legislature in 1911, that required sight and hearing tests for all operators and this act also prohibited passengers from riding on the outside of the trams and streetcars.

Thank you for reading my adventures, I can’t wait to share what else I enjoyed about the village 💓💓💓
